The Paraglider Manufacturers Association has released the PMA Standard “Periodical Inspection of Paragliders” in its first official release version (Version 2024.12.1). This new standard marks a significant milestone in improving safety and reliability within the paragliding community.
Developed in collaboration with leading manufacturers and independent experts, the standard provides a comprehensive framework for inspecting used paragliders. It covers visual assessments, line strength, line geometry, fabric porosity, and fabric tear strength tests – all designed to ensure the airworthiness of paragliders over their lifespan.
This release follows months of feedback and refinement based on the draft version, which garnered valuable insights from industry professionals.
Effective December 2024, this standard sets a benchmark for inspection companies and manufacturers worldwide. Download your copy today at PMA Documents.
Through its standard documents, the PMA is setting technical standards for the paragliding industry in areas which are not, or only vaguely covered by existing norms and regulations, with the intention of improving the safety of paragliding equipment via industry wide minimum standards.
